Information What is YAOI/shonen-ai? Glossary of yaoi terms.

An acronym for yama nashi, ochi nashi imi nashi. Generally this
means no point, no resolution. A term used to describe sexual
relationships between two male anime or manga characters. There's
usually more emphasis on the sex than any actual feelings the characters may have.

Similar to YAOI. It is love in general between two males, and not sexually explicit like YAOI tends to be. More emphasis on emotions.

These are terms used to show which of the two males is the dominant one. Seme: the one who penetrates, and uke: the receiver. The larger or stronger of the two is usuallythe seme. This is represented by seme X uke. ex: Kurama X Hiei. But it is not unheard of for the smaller to be the aggressor.

Beautiful boy, usually between the ages 12 and 17. This idea is, well was common in Greece as well as Asian countries.

Plot? What plot? A story that exists purely for a good shag.

Unresolved sexual tension. Almost the opposite of PWP. Here the characters don't have sex at all.

Manga: professional comic books, usually series based, serious, and follow a specific plot line.
Doujinshi: an amateur work, can be series based, or have it's own original characters, and plot. However, they don't always necessarily have a plot. They can be very silly and light-hearted, or dark and angsty.
